PAST

It started with a dream. A dream fueled by perseverance, dedication, and the vision of one man.

Fifty years ago, with nothing more than determination and a rented room in the heart of Binondo, Nelson Lee embarked on his entrepreneurial journey. He wore many hats—securing connections, conducting deliveries, and managing the business single-handedly.

What began with a simple goal—to donate a typewriter to his alma mater—became the spark of something greater. At the time, he realized he would need to sell five more units just to cover the cost of that donation. And so, with determination, he started selling typewriters. Guided by his belief that technology could inspire productivity, he laid the foundation of what we now know as Solid Business Machines Center, Inc.

Today, as we celebrate five decades of innovation and service, we honor the man whose dream sparked it all.

Bearing the fruits of his labor, Nelson acquired his very first distributorship: Olympia Typewriters. These machines found their way into homes, schools, and offices nationwide—solidifying the company’s reputation as a trusted supplier.

By the late ’70s and ’80s, SBMCI entered a new era of growth. Expanding beyond typewriters, the company introduced banking machines. This leap into new technologies earned SBMCI recognition for its quality, reliability, and unwavering commitment to service and delivery.

From one man’s dream in a modest rented room rose a company that would shape industries, empower generations, and stand strong half a century later.

Today, Solid Business Machines Center, Inc. is a living tribute to the life and legacy of Nelson Lee—proof that with vision, perseverance, and passion, one man’s dream can build not just a company, but a lasting legacy.

Solid Business Machines Center, Inc. was established with a vision to provide high-quality office and banking equipment solutions in the Philippines.

Early 80's
